March reads

So this month I only read a few books! Which isn't the best but still I read some good ones.

1. Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I really enjoyed this story a lot! I really can't wait to start the rest in the series. You can check out my review of Cinder here!
A forbidden romance.

A deadly plague.

Earth's fate hinges on one girl . . .

CINDER, a gifted mechanic in New Beijing, is also a cyborg. She's reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's sudden illness. But when her life becomes entwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she finds herself at the centre of a violent struggle between the desires of an evil queen - and a dangerous temptation.

Cinder is caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal. Now she must uncover secrets about her mysterious past in order to protect Earth's future.

This is not the fairytale you remember. But it's one you won't forget.

2. Legend my Marie Lu. I had heard so much praise for this story and I absolutely adored it! Check out my review of Legend here!
Los Angeles, California, Republic Of America.
He is Day,
the boy who walks in the light.

She is June,
the girl who seeks her brother's killer.

On the run and undercover, they meet by chance.
Irresistibly drawn together,
neither knows the other's past.
But Day murdered June's brother
and she has sworn to avenge his death....

3. Those Above by Daniel Polansky. I enjoyed the story but not as much as I thought I would. The cover of the book is so beautiful though! Check out my review of Those Above here!
They enslaved humanity three thousand years ago. Tall, strong, perfect, superhuman and near immortal they rule from their glittering palaces in the eternal city in the centre of the world. They are called Those Above by their subjects. They enforce their will with fire and sword.

Twenty five years ago mankind mustered an army and rose up against them, only to be slaughtered in a terrible battle. Hope died that day, but hatred survived. Whispers of another revolt are beginning to stir in the hearts of the oppressed: a woman, widowed in the war, who has dedicated her life to revenge; the general, the only man to ever defeat one of Those Above in single combat, summoned forth to raise a new legion; and a boy killer who rises from the gutter to lead an uprising in the capital.

Those Above is the first of an extraordinary new fantasy epic by the author of the acclaimed Low Town series that will sweep the reader into a wholly alien, wholly recognizable world of rebellion and revenge, of love and of death, of intrigue and pitiless war.

4. Shadow Study by Maria V. Snyder. I love Maria and she is my favourite author and I was so glad when she said she was bringing out Shadow Study and I loved it a lot! Check out my review of Shadow Study here!
Once, only her own life hung in the balance…When Yelena was a poison taster, her life was simpler. She survived to become a vital part of the balance of power between rival countries Ixia and Sitia.

Now she uses her magic to keep the peace in both lands—and protect her relationship with Valek.

Suddenly, though, dissent is rising. And Valek’s job—and his life—are in danger.

As Yelena tries to uncover her enemies, she faces a new challenge: her magic is blocked. And now she must find a way to keep not only herself but all that she holds dear alive.

Here's what I plan and hope to read in the month of April.

1. Before I Go by Colleen Oakley. I received this from Atlantic Publishing and I cannot wait to start reading it!
Her time is running out. How can Daisy ensure that Jack will live happily ever after?

On the eve of what was supposed to be a triumphant 'Cancerversary' with her husband Jack to celebrate three years of good health, Daisy suffers a devastating blow: her doctor tells her that the cancer is back, but this time it's unstoppable.

Death is a frightening prospect - but not because she's afraid for herself. She's terrified of what will happen to her brilliant but charmingly helpless husband when she's no longer there to take care of him. It's this fear that keeps her up at night, until she stumbles on the solution: she has to find him another wife.

With a singular determination, Daisy searches for Jack's perfect match. But as the thought of her husband with another woman becomes all too real, Daisy is forced to decide what's more important in the short amount of time she has left: her husband's happiness - or her own?

2. Golden Son by Pierce Brown. I loved Red Rising so really looking forward to start the next book.
Darrow is a rebel forged by tragedy. For years he and his fellow Reds worked the mines, toiling to make the surface of Mars inhabitable. They were, they believed, mankind's last hope. Until Darrow discovered that it was all a lie, and that the Red were nothing more than unwitting slaves to an elitist ruling class, the Golds, who had been living on Mars in luxury for generations.

In RED RISING, Darrow infiltrated Gold society, to fight in secret for a better future for his people. Now fully embedded amongst the Gold ruling class, Darrow continues his dangerous work to bring them down from within. It's a journey that will take him further than he's ever been before - but is Darrow truly willing to pay the price that rebellion demands?

Hic sunt leones.

A life-or-death tale of vengeance with an unforgettable hero at its heart, Golden Son guarantees Pierce Brown's continuing status as one of fiction's most exciting new voices.

3. Zero Echo Shadow Prime by Peter Samet. Peter was kindly enough to send me an ecopy of this book and I have to say it sounds so interesting that I cannot wait to start reading it!
The year is 2045. 18-year-old Charlie Nobunaga creates the world’s first sentient AI and becomes an overnight sensation. But amid the red carpet galas and TV interviews, Charlie is diagnosed with cancer, and her promising future grinds to a halt.

To save her life, an ambitious tech company uploads Charlie’s mind into the body of a cutting-edge robot. The procedure is a success, but with a horrifying catch. They create additional clones for their own ends.

Charlie wakes up four times as four distinct entities: a robot named PRIME, a holographic assistant named SHADOW, a mysterious four-armed killer named ECHO, and the original dying human renamed ZERO. Separated and imprisoned, each version of Charlie begins an arduous journey alone. But their paths soon intersect in surprising ways as they retaliate against the people determined to destroy them.

ZERO ECHO SHADOW PRIME is the story of one young woman who splits into four…and fights to become whole again.

4. Harrison Squared by Daryl Gregory. I actually started this book and I'm really looking forward to finishing it! It's so interesting.
Harrison is a lonely teenager, terrified of the ocean since a childhood sailing accident took his father and his right leg. One of the sensitives who are attuned to the supernatural world, Harrison and his mother have just moved to the worst possible place for a boy like him: Dunnsmouth, a Lovecraftian town perched on rocks above the Atlantic, where monsters lurk under the waves, and creepy teachers run the local school. When Harrison's mother, a marine biologist, disappears at sea, his attempts to find her puts him in conflict with a strange church, a knife-wielding killer, and the Deep Ones... It will take all his resources and an unusual host of allies to defeat the danger and find his mother.

Whoa the cover to Those Above is beautiful! I heard that Legend was pretty good, but I haven't picked it up just yet lol. I suck at continuing a series, or starting one for that matter, but now that I'm a blogger, I'm trying my best to make those series commitments. One series that I love however, is The Lunar Chronicles! I loved me some Cinder, as well as the rest of the books, (especially Cress) and I can't wait to finally read my copy of Fairest!

I haven't heard of Zero Echo Shadow Prime, Before I Go, or Harrison Squared, but my goodness do they sound amazing! I'm putting this on my TBR ASAP! I have Red Rising, but I haven't been able to pick it up, (the struggles of a book blogger lol) but hopefully come June/July, I'll be ready to begin! Nice meeting you!
