Hello everyone! I made a decision this year to make it to as many blogger events as I can this year as I didn't make it to any last year and they are always fun and I get to see my friends and of course, hear about books! I got invited to the Scholastic event before Christmas and I knew I had to go. It was so fun and all the titles we heard about that are coming out from them this year just sound wonderful.
We also got told about a follow up to Super Awkward by Beth Garrod that is in the works! Very excited.
We also got an exciting video message from the wonderful Maggie Stiefvater!
Then we got a talk from the design and how they did the covers for The Goldfish Boy and Noah Can't Even. This was the first time we got to see the cover for Noah Can't Even and listening to them as they talked us through the process of both of these designs was very fascinating!
Then there was a talk from the editorial team and telling us about being an editor and some of the books they are editors for-also very fascinating hearing about how they acquire a book and all the ins and outs of it.
Next was the contempary panel with- Sue Wallman, Lisa Thompson, Simon James Green, Eve Ainsworth & Beth Garrod.
It was fun hearing them talk about their upcoming books and these books have some strong messages in them that I think everyone will love these books. Plus, they where all so lovely and funny!
Next was the fantasy panel with Alice Broadway, Melinda Salisbury, Hayley Barker & Lisa Lueddecke. 3 who are debut authors! All these books sound amazing and they are all so different from each other which is good. Definitely add these books to your tbr. It also got me excited for The Scarecrow Queen from Mel.
After we had a quiz. A Fantastic Beast And Where To Find Them quiz. The authors came in and joined tables as when we first got there we all had our names on a sticker with a creature from Fantastic Beast and that was our team table. Our team was Demiguise and we where lucky enough to get Melinda Salisbury on our team as she knows everything about the wizarding world and thanks to her WE WON! And we won some amazing Fantastic beast book goodies. Thank you Mel ;D
Then, sadly, it was over. It was such a wonderful event and I want to thank everyone at Scholastic for a wonderful event and for Olivia for inviting me in the first place. The food was also wonderful ;) I left with a goody bag and also, loads of books. They had loads of books on the windowsill and just told us to take whatever we wanted and at first I was happy I had a big tote bag but carrying it afterwards was not fun but thank you again Scholastic for the goody bag(which included a proof of SHOWSTOPPER!) and the books.
I had to get the first three books in The Raven Cycle as I have the last one and now I am ready to binge it. I have already read The Hunger Games but these covers are just so beautiful and when they said just take them I didn't need a lot of convincing. The Sleeping Prince is one of my favourite books and my other copy is ruined so I had to get another one ;) I've been wanting to read Wintergirls and Girl<3Girl for so long and now I can't wait to get stuck in! I already have Super Awkward but, I finally got to meet Beth as we are both Beth's and we like to talk about that online so I had to get another copy and to get it signed as she's just so wonderful.
Thank you again to the wonderful people at Scholastic who absolutely spoiled us all with books and food and don't forget to add all their upcoming books to your TBR!!
