Hello everyone and welcome to day 5! Today I have the wonderful Teri Terry on my blog today! 1. Hi Teri, Evolution, the last book in your Dark Matter trilogy is out this year. How does it feel that it is ending? It’s a mixture of feelings to see the last book in a trilogy ready to face the world. There is something about writing the third and last book of a series that is much different to a standalone; I’ve lived in the world with the characters so long. I’ll both miss them and am excited to do something different. It’s the second time I’ve reached the end of a trilogy, having finished the Slated trilogy with Shattered in 2014, and both times writing the third book was both fun and less stressful than writing the middle book; there is also something really exhilarating about rushing to the end. I’m excited to see what people think of Evolution! 2. What have you loved about writing this trilogy? I’ve really enjoyed delving into the science aspects: my inner geek has been very happy! Also a crucial part of the story was the relationship between Kai and Shay. Could it survive the changes in Shay that came about when she survived the illness that killed so many people? But probably my favourite character in the trilogy to write was Callie, in all her incarnations. 3. Have you read any books lately you have adored? I’ve been reading quite a few ghost stories lately, as I’m writing one now. I really enjoyed Unrest by Michelle Harrison. I’m half way through Ghost by Helen Grant, and looking forward to starting something different soon - Bone Talk by Candy Gourlay. 4. Can you give a description of the Dark Matter trilogy for readers who haven't started it yet? A missing girl; a secret government institution; a devastating epidemic that was never meant to escape … or was it? Kai’s little sister Callie has been missing for almost a year. Shay recognizes her from a missing person poster and contacts Kai. Soon they are searching for answers together, as a deadly epidemic begins to sweep down from Scotland. Can they outrun death and save Callie? |
