Another thrilling read from the queen of YA smoulder, Becca Fitzpatrick. If you enjoyed Hush, Hush, you'll love Dangerous Lies . . .
One fateful night, Stella's hope of having a normal life is shattered by a single gunshot. She witnesses a crime, forcing her into witness protection to testify against the perpetrator, a dangerous crime boss.
Whisked away to the sleepy town of Thunder Basin, Nebraska, Stella is forced to start her life again - as someone else. She soon meets Chet Falconer, her boyishly handsome neighbour, who swears he's going to have her wearing cowgirl boots before the summer's over. Against her better judgment, Stella finds herself falling under Chet's spell, while feeling an irresistable attraction to his rule-breaking younger brother, Dusty, too . . .
Despite these distractions, Stella's past begins to catch up with her. Is she really safe in Thunder Basin? Or is a dangerous storm brewing . . . ?
~I was sent a copy of this book, this in no way affects my review~
I give it - 5/5
My review - I do love a good mystery book, so I was really excited when I got asked to be apart of this blog tour for one of my favourite authors of all time. I was really excited about her new book DANGEROUS LIES and I was not disappointed.
In this story we meet Stella, but that isn't her real name. Stella is in the witness protection programme and has been sent to live with Carmina, a retired cop, in Thunder Basin. She is a city a girl who has been forced to move to the country, the only good thing about the move is her next door neighbour Chet (swoon). She has to do a lot of things she has never done before, like getting a job, but with the possibility of danger around the corner, how safe is she really in this new town?
This book was really gripping, I was hooked from the very first page as I wanted to know what was happening only a few pages in. Stella is use to doing everything herself so moving to Thunder Basin is a big adjustment for her. She has a lot of secrets that she cannot tell anyone and I had to keep reading to find out what they where and why she was in the witness protection programme. She won't let go of her past entirly, especially when things start to heat up with Chet, but she isn't ready as it is really hard for her to forget.
Becca has done a brilliant job with this book. I do lover her other books but after reading DANGEROUS LIES I have to say that this one has become one of my favourite books by her.
Becca Fitzpatrick made her name with her bestselling debut, Hush, Hush, in 2009. She has since published three further titles in the Hush, Hush series and Black Ice, a stand alone novel. Becca lives in Colorado with her family. When she’s not writing, she’s most likely to be found prowling sales racks for shoes, running or watching crime dramas on TV.
