Welcome to my stop on the Sanctuary blog tour! Today I am excited to share my review of this book! Trigger warning for this book: rape, sexual assault of minors, bullying and substance abuse. ~I was gifted a copy from the publishers - all opinions are my own~
I give it - 4/5 My review - What a fantastic book. Gripping from the first page, full of tension and just filled with mystery that I adore. Vic is a fantastic writer and she really knows how to grip the reader from the beginning. This book was really interesting, I love the plot, how the story played out and the characters! In this book there is a death. Daniel was the towns star quarterback and died tragically. Fingers are pointed at his ex-girlfriend Harper who happens to be the daughter of the towns witch. She does not possess any powers but, she has a strong motive for killing Daniel and was there the night of the party. Detective Maggie Knight is brought in to work on the case but, as it draws on the town starts to loose their mind over what happened to Daniel. Can she figure out the truth before this becomes a witch-hunt? What I really enjoyed about this book was that it was told by different POV. Sarah, Maggie, Harper and Abigail and includes transcripts, emails, police documents and articles. It was really interesting to read it from these women. From the mothers, Sarah, the mother of Harper and reading how she felt as her daughter was being accused and Abigail, the mother of Daniel, desperate to find out what happened to him. The story will keep the reader on their toes. As it plays out and secrets and lies are revealed it keeps the mystery right until the end. Vic has written a brilliant book here with a small town dealing with grief and sadness but, also with magic involved! It was such a good mix and I enjoyed every second off it.
