A Fairytale For Christmas

A wonderful, heart-warming and funny Christmas novel from Chrissie Manby, perfect for curling up with in front of the fire. What could be more magical at Christmas than a fairy tale come true? It's the festive season and the members of the Newbay Theatre Society, more commonly known as the NEWTS, are preparing to put on a show. Being cast as Cinderella is the realization of a dream for newcomer Kirsty, not least because she hopes starring in a panto under the direction of her boyfriend Jon will bring them closer together. But Kirsty soon learns that it's not all glitter and good cheer behind the scenes at the amateur theatre as bitter rivalries nurtured through decades, wardrobe mishaps and suspicious near-fatal accidents threaten to derail the production. And then there's Prince Charming himself. Will working together with Jon bring Kirsty her happy ever after...or reveal their love to be nothing but a 'showmance'? With Christmas just around the corner, it's going to take more than a Fairy Godmother to get Kirsty and her cast-mates to the ball.

I give it - 5/5

My review - What a wonderful Christmassy story!! I read this in one sitting as I just couldn't put it down. It has made me feel so Christmassy and I had to watch Cinderella after reading it. It was just so wonderful.

In this story we follow Kirsty. She has gotten the lead in the Cinderella panto, her boyfriend is the director - everything is becoming a fairytale, right? She has been with Jon for a year and being in a play with him directing has opened her eyes. He's not as wonderful as she thought he was. With people getting casted she meets some wonderful new people, especially a lovely little girl with a fantastic singing voice and her father. Can things work out with Jon? Or will she realise that he wasn't Prince Charming after all?

I just loved this story. Kirsty has always followed her dreams, something her father has never accepted and they have a strained relationship. But, meeting all these new people and being able to play Cinderella she feels like she has finally found her fairytale. I love how she starts to stick up for herself and put herself first in this book and hopefully find her fairytale ending.

I won't spoil it for anyone but this book was just so adorable, a certain father and his daughter where so cute and I loved reading about them. I loved Kirsty and reading about her life in this book and her following her dreams and doing what she always wanted to do. It was beautifully written with some funny parts and the perfect ending.

I cannot wait to read more from Chrissie and this is a perfect Christmassy read for anyone looking for a good Christmas book. It made me feel so happy and Christmassy and just so wonderful.
