A Quiet Kind Of Thunder

Steffi doesn't talk. Rhys can't hear. They understand each other perfectly. Love isn't always a lightning strike. Sometimes it's the rumbling roll of thunder...Steffi has been a selective mute for most of her life - she's been silent for so long that she feels completely invisible. But Rhys, the new boy at school, sees her. He's deaf, and her knowledge of basic sign language means that she's assigned to look after him. To Rhys it doesn't matter that Steffi doesn't talk and, as they find ways to communicate, Steffi finds that she does have a voice, and that she's falling in love with the one person who makes her feel brave enough to use it.

My review

I give it - 5/5

My review - I adored Saras first novel, Beautiful Broken Things and I was really excited when I heard she had another book out and I had to pick it up ASAP.

I read it in one sitting as I just couldn't put it down and instantly fell in love with this book and the characters. I was hugging the book after I read it because I just couldn't cope with how amazing and adorable this book was. Not only that, it had some important topics in it to do with mental health and diversity.

In this book we meet Steffi. She doesn't speak. She can speak, mainly to her family and her best friend but, she feels more comfortable not speaking. Rhys is new at her school and they get introduced as Rhys is deaf and Steffi knows some BSL and they instantly hit it off. They have their ups and down but, being with Rhys has made Steffi more confident and she starts to use her voice a little bit more.

I just can't get over how cute this book was. It did have me at some moments where I just wanted to wrap these characters up and tell them everything will be okay. They really help each other in this book but they do have some fallouts as they don't talk to each other about their problems but, they learn to grow and fall in love and I just loved this book.

I also loved her best friend Tem! She was a wonderful character and I enjoyed reading about her when she was in the story(would love a story about her, just saying)

If you loved Beautiful Broken Things then you will ADORE this! If not, you need to pick both of Saras books as they are just wonderful and Sara really puts a lot of heart into these books.
