Sophie May has a secret.
One that she's successfully kept for years. It's meant that she's had to give up her dreams of going to university and travelling the world to stay in her little village, living with her mum and working in the local teashop.
But then Sophie unexpectedly meets the gorgeous Billy Buskin - a famous actor with ambitions to make it to the top. As they begin to grow closer, Sophie finds herself whisked away from the comfort of her life into Billy's glamorous - but ruthless - world.
After years of shying away from attention, can Sophie handle the constant scrutiny that comes with being with Billy? How much is she prepared to give up along the way? And is their love strong enough to keep them together against the odds?
I give it - 4/5
My review - What a wonderful story. I have just recently started reading books by Giovanna Fletcher and I'm so surprised it's taken me this long to start reading her books. This is the second book I've read by her and I am just loving her work even more. She writes such fun books that are full of romance, family relationships, drama, laughs, always full of amazing story lines and interesting characters.
Billy and Me follows Sophie May and Billy. Sophie lives in a small town. When she took her gap year after school when everyone went to Uni she got a job at the little cafe and 8 years later she's still there. She loves working there, she loves all the locals and she wants be close to her mother after a tragedy broke their hearts years ago.
In the small town gossip will catch up to you fast and this is good gossip. They are filming a movie near by, a movie of a book that is Sophie's favourite and she's not all that happy about it but, when she finds out whose playing the lead (an actor she's never heard off) who has been coming into the cafe and she never realised. But, as they get to know each other, sparks start to fly and what will happen when the filming is over? Billy wants Sophie to come to live with him in London after filming is done.
Sophie has never left the little village she calls home. Can she put her fears behind her and take the big leap for love? What will happen when they get to London? Can she move on from this little village and towards her future? Or, will something be trying to push her back?
I loved this book. Sophie is a wonderful character. she wants to do what she can to help everyone and when she gets the chance at love she is willing to give it a shot. Billy is an actor. He likes Sophie because she's different and just likes everything about her. But, can he give her the life she deserves? Or will fame and some other people get to his head and ruin the best thing that has ever happened to him?
A brilliant book by Giovanna and I cannot wait to read the sequel!
I AM A BELLE. I CONTROL BEAUTY.
In the opulent world of Orléans, the people are born grey and damned, and only a Belle's powers can make them beautiful.
Camellia Beauregard wants to be the favourite Belle - the one chosen by the queen to tend to the royal family.
But once Camellia and her Belle sisters arrive at court, it becomes clear that being the favourite is not everything she always dreamed it would be. Behind the gilded palace walls live dark secrets, and Camellia soon learns that her powers may be far greater - and far darker - than she ever imagined.
When the queen asks Camellia to break the rules she lives by to save the ailing princess, she faces an impossible decision: protect herself and the way of the Belles, or risk her own life, and change the world forever.

I give it - 5/5
My review - There is a reason why everyone is talking about this book because, it's bloody brilliant.
This book was something I didn't expect. I didn't know too much about the plot. I just wanted to jump right into it and to see what it was all about. The thing about book buzz is that, you'll either really love the book or not and some times, the buzz helps and doesn't. But, this time the hype lives up to the book. (Some trigger warnings for this book before you go into it though! Including sexual assault.)
In this world everyone is born grey. With red eyes, grey hair that has the texture of straws. Camellia and her five sisters are Belles. Born of colour and, they have a magical ability to make anyone beautiful.
Camellia is desperate to picked as the favourite Belle, the one who will do the beauty work. But, the court is not what it seems. The people are demanding, the work they request her to do leaves Camellia exhausted.
The Queens eldest daughter has been kept in a deep sleep and the queen asks Camellia to do something she wasn't expecting. With this it opens up a whole of things that throw Camellia into the world of lies, secrets and the truth about The Belles.
With this information she has many choices to make. Is she ready to decide what to do? Or, will something sinister stop her before she has the chance?
I love the way Dhonielle has combined our work with technology, paparazzi and that of a high fantasy world which, she has created and made her it own with all these little parts in it. She has such a beautiful way of writing that just grips you from the beginning and begs for you to carry on reading. It flows so nicely and the way the story is told is just wonderful.
To the people The Belles are harmless. It is like going for a make over but, a little bit more extreme in their world where beauty is everything and, beauty is pain.
A story that is beautifully told and full of beauty, finding the truth, secrets, lies and figuring out what to do and if it's the right thing. A very interesting book that had a story like no other.
