Nothing burns as bright as the truth. It has been ten years since Abby Williams left home and scrubbed away all evidence of her small town roots. Now working as an environmental lawyer in Chicago, she has a thriving career, a modern apartment, and her pick of meaningless one-night stands. But when a new case takes her back home to Barrens, Indiana, the life Abby painstakingly created begins to crack. Tasked with investigating Optimal Plastics, the town's economic heart, she begins to find strange connections to a decade-old scandal involving the popular Kaycee Mitchell and her friends-just before Kaycee disappeared for good. But as Abby tries desperately to find out what happened to Kaycee, troubling memories begin to resurface and she begins to doubt her own observations. And when she unearths an even more disturbing secret, her search threatens the reputations, and lives, of the community and risks exposing a darkness that may consume her. With tantalizing twists, slow-burning suspense, and a remote, rural town of five claustrophobic miles, Bonfire is a dark exploration of what happens when your past and present collide.

I give it - 5/5
My review - WOW. Just wow.
Have you ever read a book that you instantly just couldn't stop reading and after you read it it's all you can think of? That is this book for me. I wasn't sure what to expect from Bonfire. It was a lot more creepier than I expected. I didn't know too much about the plot I just heard a little bit about it and knew that I wanted to read it. Krysten is a fantastic writer. I can't get over how brilliant this book was. I was instantly gripped from the beginning. With the mystery still looming and I badly wanted to know what was happening in this town and to these girls.
10 years later Abby comes back to Barrens. She never thought she would come back but, her firm want her to investigate the towns Optimal Plastics. After she graduated and moved to Chicago she wanted to forget her life in Barrens and the people who bullied her when she was younger. She has her walls up but, they are slowly starting to crumble as she makes her way round town and wonders if Optimal Plastics has something to do with what happened to Kaycee Mitchell 10 years ago. There was a mystery with what happened with Kaycee and why she disappeared. With Abby being back and investigating Optimal Plastics, can she find out what happened all those years ago and what ever happened to her ex-best friend?
There are secrets in this town and some of them don't want to be uncovered. With Abby trying to figure out what happened it will put people and lives at risk. Will she find out what happened to Kaycee? Or will she uncover something more sinister?
I still can't get over this book and I haven't stopped recommending it to everyone. A brilliant story about a small town with buried secrets. About dealing with your past and trying to figure out the truth before it's too late.
A brilliant novel from Krysten and I can't wait to see what she writes next. She really knows how to keep the reader gripped from the beginning.
