Welcome to Caraval, where nothing is quite what it seems. Scarlett has never left the tiny isle of Trisda, pining from afar for the wonder of Caraval, a once-a-year week-long performance where the audience participates in the show. Caraval is Magic. Mystery. Adventure. And for Scarlett and her beloved sister Tella it represents freedom and an escape from their ruthless, abusive father. When the sisters' long-awaited invitations to Caraval finally arrive, it seems their dreams have come true. But no sooner have they arrived than Tella vanishes, kidnapped by the show's mastermind organiser, Legend. Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But nonetheless she quickly becomes enmeshed in a dangerous game of love, magic and heartbreak. And real or not, she must find Tella before the game is over, and her sister disappears forever.

My review

~I was sent a copy from the publishers-all opinions are my own~

I give it - 5/5

My review - What a wonderful, magical story! This book took me on an adventure I was not expecting and I enjoyed every moment of it.

Scarlett and her sister Tella have been told stories of Caraval and ever since then they have wanted to go. They have never left the island they live on as they have a very strict father but, Scarlett has been writing letters to Legend in hopes of visiting Caraval and taking part in the game. On year, a few weeks before she is meant to be married, she gets a letter back with tickets for her and her sister.

As soon as they arrive Tella is kidnapped and now part of the game. Scarlett has to find the  clues to find her sister before Caraval is over. Everyone is involved and she has to do what she can and remember; it's only a game.....or is it? She will be thrown into a world of magic, sisterhood and love and she has to find her sister before it's too late.

I love that this story was about sisters and what sisters would do for each other and the love they share. I loved reading about Scarlett and the adventure she goes on to find Tella. They both want to escape their life back home and being at Caraval gives them that escape, even if it does come with consequences.

I was immediately gripped from the first page of this book and didn't put it down until I had finished it. I just fell in love with this world and Stephanies writing! She is able to grab the reader from the first page and bring them into this fantasy world of magic and legends. I love how this book had other themes but was based around these sisters and I loved reading their story.

PLUS THAT ENDING?!?!?! I need more. It was beautifully written and definitely a must read for all!
