Close Your Eyes

Southfield High School is oh so normal, with its good teachers, its bad, and its cliques. But despite the cliques, there's a particular group of friends who have known each other forever and know that they can rely on each other for anything. There's the twins: Vis, rebellious, kind, and just a tiny bit worried about what the hell she's going to do once this year is over, and Aisha, smart, quiet and observant. Then there's Remy, the loudmouth, and Gemma, who's more interested in college boys and getting into the crap club in town. And then there's Elise: the pretty one. But at the start of Year 11, when the group befriend the new boy, Elijah, things start to change. The group find themselves not as close as they used to be. Until one Tuesday, when the students are trapped inside the school building. And one of them has a gun. Close Your Eyes is the story of a school shooting which, through interviews, messages and questionable actions, asks: Who is truly responsible?

My review

~I was sent a copy from the publishers-all opinions are my own~

I give it - 5/5

My review - Another brilliant book from Nicci. Last year I read Follow Me Back by Nicci and just loved it and I was so excited to hear about her new book and even MORE excited when this book showed up at my house. I didn't know too much about it as I just wanted to jump into it and my gosh was it gripping!

This is an important book and we always need important books in the world to spread the word about certain issues. This book is about a school shooting and a group of friends. They have always been close and then a new guy joins their group and things start to change. They start to pull away from each other and things have happened and before they know it, someone has a gun in the school.

I really liked how this story was told and the story-line. I liked that it kept you in the dark about what happened to these kids for this to happen. Why did it happen in the first place and was there an ulterior motive?

This was a fast-paced thriller and I really enjoyed how it was told in transcripts and 3rd POV and of course that you are kept in the dark about the shooter and just THE ENDING GUYS!

A brilliant new book from Nicci!
