Crown Of Midnight

Eighteen-year-old Celaena Sardothien is bold, daring and beautiful - the perfect seductress and the greatest assassin her world has ever known. But though she won the King's contest and became his champion, Celaena has been granted neither her liberty nor the freedom to follow her heart. The slavery of the suffocating salt mines of Endovier that scarred her past is nothing compared to a life bound to her darkest enemy, a king whose rule is so dark and evil it is near impossible to defy. Celaena faces a choice that is tearing her heart to pieces: kill in cold blood for a man she hates, or risk sentencing those she loves to death. Celaena must decide what she will fight for: survival, love or the future of a kingdom. Because an assassin cannot have it all ...And trying to may just destroy her.

Review

I give it - 5/5

My review - You're probably thinking, Beth, you read the first book at the start of this year-why has it taken you so long to carry on with this series?
That is a good question and I have no idea why it has taken me this long considering I absolutely love this series. But the good thing is that I won't be taking a break as I am currently reading the 3rd book in this series since EMPIRE OF STORMS comes out pretty soon and I want to get them all read.

Anyway-THIS BOOK WAS SO FREAKING GOOD. I can see why people say that this series gets better and better with each book and it defiantly does. I loved THRONE OF GLASS but this book was defiantly better and I love where Sarah has taken this story. She really knows how to make a world come to life. I have a big love for authors who can create their own world, characters, descriptions of everything to the cities to the grass and she has done it perfectly. It felt like I was there with Celaena as she deals with her new role as the kings royal assassin.

I won't spoil this book for anyone who hasn't started this series as I think you should just defiantly jump into this book. Celaena is a teenage assassin. One day she is picked to compete against other fighters to become the kings royal assassin, to kill people he feels are plotting against him and the kingdom. The job role also comes with a prince and the captain of the guards, something she wasn't expecting.

Celaena is a fantastic character, she has a lot to deal with in this book. There is a lot more drama and a bigger threat in this book and I couldn't put it down. I was hooked from the very beginning and I couldn't stop reading until I finished it. It was filled with so much action, drama, humour, and a bit of some boy trouble. But Celaena knows something is wrong and what do all these books mean? What is the talking door talking about? Any why does she not kill the people she is meant to kill? A lot comes to light in this story and I cannot wait to finish the third one. Especially with some of the history that comes up and about the missing heir to the throne of Terrasen and this story is just getting better and better.

Sarah is a fantastic write and I love her style and the way she writes her books, I cannot wait to finish the next two in time for EMPIRE OF STORMS.

Also, Chaol is my fave.
