"When the world breaks you into pieces, sometimes you find what’s left scattered among other people’s broken parts.”

Ellie Frias has never wanted to be popular, she just wants to blend in, to be accepted. But then Caleb Breward, tells her she’s beautiful and makes her believe it.

Ellie loves Caleb, but sometimes she’s not sure she likes him that much – his awkward smile, the possessive way he touches her, his harsh tone, how he ignores her one minute and can't get enough the next. And then, on one black night, Ellie discovers the monster her boyfriend really is.

Ellie wasn’t the first girl Caleb raped. But she was the first he murdered.

Now, trapped, unable to move on, she witnesses him shatter the lives of other girls again and again. Powerless and alone, Ellie tries to keep hold of happier memories, always waiting – hoping - that someone will find her.

But no one searches for a girl they never noticed in the first place.

My review - What a book.

This book is not for the faint hearted. It is a brilliant book that deals with a lot of things. A book that will grip you, make you cry, make you be angry and it's just really good.

It isn't the longest of books but, it gets the messages across. Reading this book will make you angry that things like this still happen and that you just want to protect everyone.

This book is told by Ellie. The story of her life. What it was like before and then leading up to her death. It is hard hitting and I had to put it down a few times but, it is just brilliant. The author really captures life for teenagers. Trying to fit in, not being popular and also, the consequence of rape. How people get away with it and how this is still happening to this day because, no one ever believes someone until's it's too late. Caleb preys after the girls he knows no one cares for, the girls who want a better future.

This book deals with rape. It's hard hitting and you'll feel helpless when reading it. If you  want to read this, please do but remember the themes of the book. The author gets the message across perfectly and this is a very important book that you need to add to your reading list.

For fans of Louise O'Neill, a book that has a strong message, it's hard hitting and will open your eyes.
