A debut YA crime thriller as addictive as Serial as compelling as Riverdale and as page-turning as One of Us Is Lying
The case is closed. Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.
But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the crime, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn't so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. And if the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth . . . ?
I give it - 5/5
My review - What a book!
I really enjoyed every second of this and it kept me gripped from the very beginning. I wanted to know as much as Pip what had happened 5 years ago and wanted to see what was the truth.
Holly has done a fantastic job with this book with keeping the reader on their toes and it kept me asking questions and wanting to find out more.
5 years ago a high school girl, Andie, was murdered by her high school boyfriend, Sal. It shocked the town. People still send sad glances towards Andie's family and they look at Sal's family with disgust but, Pip, a 17 year old, doesn't believe Sal committed the crime. She is a journalist in training and for a school project she decides to talk about the case of Andie Bell. As her body was never found Pip believes something else might have happened to her.
As Pip delves deeper into the case she finds a few things that don't seem right. She questions everyone who knew Andie and what was she hiding. She was a popular girl but and Sal was loved by everybody so why would he murder her? Some things aren't adding up and Pip is determined to find out the truth.
But, someone doesn't want to her to find out the truth. As she gets deeper in and closer to finding out the truth she starts getting threatened. Someone doesn't want her to find out the truth and they will stop at nothing to make sure she doesn't. But, Pip is strong, she wants to find out what happened before it gets too late...
This story was gripping, brilliant and fill of twists and turns I did not expect. The characters where all interesting and I really enjoyed reading parts of the book from Pip which she had written down for her project. It was so interesting to read about her trying to put all the clues together to find out the truth.
A fantastic read that had me guessing until the very end. It was full of suspense and an amazing set of characters!
