Welcome to Hope, Oklahoma. The small town that's sure to warm your heart. Full of big hearts, fiery passion and love everlasting...When Loretta Simmons returns to Hope, Oklahoma, after a disastrous marriage, she's determined to remain independent for the sake of her daughter. The only thing standing in her way is Deacon Fox - the man she loved and walked away from years ago. Since Loretta owns the bookstore right next to his current renovation project, Deacon can't escape the woman who broke his heart. Throw in her adorable little girl and one ridiculously oversized dog, and they're almost a family. Only he can't be that guy - what they had was once in a lifetime. But love has a funny way of re-opening a door you thought was firmly closed...
~I was sent a copy from the publishers-all opinions are my own~
I give it - 5/5
My review - There is nothing like a Jaci Burton book to get me out of a reading slump. I love her Play By Play series, haven't read it all yet, but they where so fun and I was so excited when I got sent a copy of this book. I haven't read the others in this series but the great thing with her books is that you can read them as standalone's.
In this story we meet Loretta. She has just moved back to hope springs with her daughter after her dirvoce. She open's her own bookshop but, they are doing some renovations next door which are quite loud-when she goes over to see what it is she sees Deacon Fox. The same Deacon Fox she use to date when she was a teenager and broke his heart by leaving him.
For her, she wants to apoligse. She was guided by her parents who wanted her to date someone better and someone high up and forced her.
Deacon still hasn't gotten over his first love. He thought they would be together forever but, after seeing her again feelings arise and he realises they never left. When he starts fixing up and hanging out with her and her daughter they start to re-connect. They both have secrets and need to talk about what happened but, can they put that all behind them or, will things and their past get between them?
I love, love, love this story. I really enjoyed the female friendship and the relationship between Loretta and her daughter. Her daughter was super cute and you could tell they just wanted to start anew and maybe moving back and running into Deacon can do that for them.
Another wonderful book from Jaci. It is a perfect read for the summer time to just curl up with and I loved every second of it.
