The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, numerous, messy, affectionate. And every day from her balcony perch, seventeen-year-old Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs the trellis to sit by her and changes everything. My Life Next Door is the perfect guilty pleasures read with real emotional depth – and the first in three very collectable YA contemporary romances by Huntley Fitzpatrick.
~I was sent a proof of this book, this in no way affects my opinion~
I give it - 5/5
My review - I LOVED this story!
This was such a cute story with some romance, family drama and a cute boy next door. When Sam was younger, the Garrett family moved in next door. They where everything her family wasn't. With it just being her, her sister and her mother the new big family next door was a big change. They're loud, messy and plus there is loads of them and her mother said that they're going to be trouble.
Fast forward to when Sam is 17, it's summer and she is dealing with her mother who is very stiff and she just wants to have fun, instead of having to work and focus on what college she will be attending. Then one day one of the Garrett's, Jase, drops by her window and everything takes off from there.
Her shows her how to live her life by being wild and free, plus having Jase with her all the time isn't a bad thing in her books. But then something happens and she is torn on what to do, to do what is right that will affect her mother or to ignore and it will affect herself.
I really adored this story as it brought me out of my reading slump. As soon as I read the first page I knew I was going to like this book and I was just gripped from the very first page. This book is so much more than a summer romance, it is about a young girl who is growing up, dealing with her family problems and a family she has grown to love, plus falling for the boy next door. Sam has a lot to deal with in this book and I thought she dealt with it all very nicely.
This book had me smiling a lot whilst reading. The characters where falling in love and I was falling in love with the book.
If you're looking for a adorable romance summer book then this is the one for you.
