Emmett Atwater isn't just leaving Detroit; he's leaving Earth. Why the Babel Corporation recruited him is a mystery, but the number of zeroes on their contract has him boarding their lightship and hoping to return to Earth with enough money to take care of his family. Forever. Before long, Emmett discovers that he is one of ten recruits, all of whom have troubled pasts and are a long way from home. Now each recruit must earn the right to travel down to the planet of Eden - a planet that Babel has kept hidden - where they will mine a substance called Nyxia that has quietly become the most valuable material in the universe. But Babel's ship is full of secrets. And Emmett will face the ultimate choice: win the fortune at any cost, or find a way to fight that won't forever compromise what it means to be human.

I give it - 5/5
My review - Well, Scott has written one of the best books I've read. I adored this book, the plot, the characters! I was instantly gripped from the beginning and couldn't put it down. I am a huge sci-fi fan and this was right up my street.
If you haven't picked this book up yet you need to. It was just brilliant and perfect for any sci-fi fans! And, if you want to read more sci-fi pick this up...if you like reading, pick it up because it's that good. Scott is a fantastic writer and really knows how to grip the reader from the beginning. I felt like I was with these characters and just couldn't put the book down until I had finished it and even then I didn't want the book to be over!
In this book we follow Emmett. He comes from a poor family with a sick mother and has been recruited with 9 other people for this secret mission that promises untold riches if they do it, and of course sign the forms before they even know what they are about to do. They will travel to the planet Eden to mine Nyxia, a substance with valuable properties. But of course, there is a catch. Not all will go on the planet and not all will get the riches. Of course allegiances are formed and enemies. Especially when all these kids are needing this money for different things.
This book ended perfectly and left enough open for the next one! I am so excited to see what happens. I love the characters and the journey they have been on so far! I cannot recommend this book enough.
