I give it - 5/5
My review - I adore this book. I just loved it so much. I love the characters, the story and just everything about it.
I couldn't put this book down once I started it. In this book we meet Flora. Something happened last year when she was in school so, now she has dropped out, doesn't speak to many people and works in the hotel. She was diagnosed with Bipolar II and ever since the incident so doesn't do people.
That is until Hal arrives. He is a guest at the hotel and is researching about a person from WW1. Flora is asked to help him and Flora is thrust into the world of the WW1 soldier. The more they find out about him the more she gets intrigued. Piecing his life together is something they are both determined to figure out what had happened and the more time they spend together the more their feelings start to grow.
I just adored this book. Flora was a fantastic character. I've hardly read any books where a character has Bipolar II and I think Maggie did a great job of showing a young character with it and how Flora came to be diagnosed and then showing her life after and how she started too deal with it. She is worried telling people would make them think differently of her and seeing people again from school who think she is 'crazy' she isn't having the best time but, meeting Hal and working on this project starts to make her feel happy again.
Hal is an interesting character. He comes from a family that are more do as I say but, he is determined to figure out what happened to this WW1 soldier. He is an adorable character that is so set on finding out what happened and meeting Flora along the way was just something wonderful that he never expected.
I love them both. I love her older brother Charlie and Mira and just everyone in this book. It was a fantastic book that dealt with some serious topics and also has the wonderful slow burn romance that is just everything. I love the history element to this book and I felt like I was there with them to try and figure out more about this soldier and the adventure they went on to uncover letters and more.
A brilliant new book from Maggie that will just wrap you up from the beginning and wont let you go until you've finished it. It is wonderfully written and I just adored it so much.
