Ember Hill left the dragon organization Talon to take her chances with rebel dragon Cobalt and his crew of rogues. But Ember can't forget the sacrifice made for her by the human boy who could have killed her―Garret Xavier Sebastian, a soldier of the dragonslaying Order of St. George, the boy who saved her from a Talon assassin, knowing that by doing so, he'd signed his own death warrant.
Determined to save Garret from execution, Ember must convince Cobalt to help her break into the Order's headquarters. With assassins after them and Ember's own brother helping Talon with the hunt, the rogues find an unexpected ally in Garret and a new perspective on the underground battle between Talon and St. George.
A reckoning is brewing and the secrets hidden by both sides are shocking and deadly. Soon Ember must decide: Should she retreat to fight another day...or start an all-out war?
I give it - 5/5
My review - I always think that no book in a trio/sagas will be better then the first but boy was I wrong!
I absolutely adored Rogue!
The main thing I loved about this book was the fact it told Rileys/Cobalts past and I really think it added to the story and looking into his past working for Talon really open my mind to why he went rogue and wants to stop Talon. It was so interesting to read about his past as I love his character and it was just really great.
In this story we get more of a love triangle happening as Ember in her human form wants Garret but her dragon side is calling for Riley and I'm never really a big fan of love triangles but I do enjoy this one.
(plus I want her with Garret, just saying. Sorry Riley!) Plus she's only young so I'm glad the whole love triangle isn't rushed for her to pick someone as she wants to get her main purpose for leaving Talon and fighting for what is right.
I really liked that we had more Dante POV is this book. It sucks that they have both chosen secret paths but he is dedicated to Talon and just wants Ember by his side but I'm guessing he's realising that will never happen as now she has someone else to look out for her the way he use to. He is a very interesting character and reading about him working with Talon was great to read as I think it is very interesting to read about the rogue side and the talon side.
I love Wes as well. He didn't half make me chuckle in this book.
I think having the different POV's in this book really gives you more of a story-line as you get to know about the main characters thoughts and what they're doing when someone is doing something else.
All in all this was a great follow up to Talon and I can't wait for the next book which is out next year...WHICH IS TOO LONG AWAY!
This a brilliant read for any fantasy lover.
