Second Chance Summer
by
Morgan Matson

Picture
Taylor Edwards family might not be that close - everyone is a little too busy and overscheduled, but for the most part, they get along just fine. Then Taylor's dad gets some devastating news, and her parents decide that the family will spend on last summer together at their old lake house in the Pcocono Mountains. Crammed into a place much smaller than they are used to, they begin to get to know each other again, but as the summer progresses they're more aware than ever that they're battling a ticking clock. And as Taylor tries to deal with the drama at home, she is faced with the fact that the friends she thought she'd left behind haven't actually gone anywhere. Her former summer best friend is still living across the lake and still as mad with Taylor as she was five years ago, and her first boyfriend has moved in next door… but he's much cuter at seventeen than he was at twelve. Can one summer be enough time to get a second chance - with family, friends, and love?

My review

I give it - 4/5

My review - This is a really lovely book, especially for the summer time.

In this book we meet Taylor, she is not really close with her siblings, they don't get along with one another. But then they get some really sad news and her family decide to spend one last summer at their lake house. They haven't been for 5 years and when they go back Taylor has to deal with her ex-best friend and they guy she dated when she was 12. It doesn't help that they guy she dated is now a very cute 17 year old and is living next door and her ex-best friend works with her in the shop down by the beach.

I really liked Taylors character. She was very interesting and she had so much to deal. I really liked her narrative, especially when it would be parts about her past and it was great to read about what happened back then to cause them to break up and for her best friend to hate her.

It was such a beautiful story that touched my heart. It wasn't just about Taylor dealing with friends and boys, it was so much more than that. It was mainly her dealing with her family and her fathers sickness.

This book is about second chances and it was so well written. Morgan is a gifted writer and I can see why everybody loves her.

This book had me laughing, sighing and crying a little bit as it was just fantastic and I cannot wait to read more of Morgans books.
