Twenty-five years ago, Elmbridge High School burned down. The blaze killed three and injured twenty, and one pupil, Carly Johnson, disappeared. For two decades, little was revealed about what became known as the Johnson Incident. Until now. A diary has been found in the ruins of the school. In this diary, Kaitlyn Johnson, Carly's twin, tells of the strange and disturbing sequence of events leading to the incident. But Kaitlyn doesn't exist. She never has.
My review - First things first, I LOVE the cover of this book! And the pages, it works so well with the creepiness of this book!
This book was perfect for a Halloween Read. It had the right amount of creepy that I was kind of scared to read it at night, but I did and then my coat fell of the chair in the kitchen and I screamed, but it was so worth it!
I have been in a reading slump for a good couple of weeks but this book got my right out of it! This was so interesting on how the story was told. It was mainly made up of diary entries, police reports, police interviews, notes, videos etc..
It talks about a fire that happened at Elmbridge High School 25 years ago. 3 people died, many injured and one missing - Carly Johnson. No one really new what happened until a diary is found in the ruins written by her twin Kaitlyn...except Kaitlyn never existed.
This book really kept me on my toes! The evidence really comes together as you read this book which makes you want to read it more to find out the whole truth and what really happened at that school 25 years ago.
Also this is Dawns debut novel and just wow! This was such a brilliant creepy YA debut novel! I haven't read many creepy YA books but this one is at the top for me. It was so dark and twisted that it was the perfect book for this time of year.
Dawn has done a brilliant job with this dark, creepy book that I will recommend to everyone who hasn't read it yet, especially for Halloween....if you're brave enough.
