![]() On the scale of one to worst idea ever, agreeing to give the toast at her best friend's engagement party when she's been in love with him for three years was not Val's finest decision. Nor was accidentally confessing her love to him in front of all their guests, including his fiancee. Boarding a plane that will take her literally anywhere to get away from the humiliation, Val is pleasantly surprised to find herself on the dazzlingly beautiful island of Reunion where she hopes she can heal her wounded pride, broken heart and bruised knees. When a painful face mask experiment leads her to a fellow broken-hearted traveller, Alex, they decide to give each other a helping hand and follow a foolproof ten-step plan to get over their respective exes. And so begins their crazy adventure. What could possibly go wrong? BUY HERE ~I received a copy via netgalley - all opinions are my own~ I give it - 5/5 My review - Jo has to be one of my favourite authors and I just adore her books more and more. I really love this book and this has to be my favourite from her so far this year. In this book we follow Val. She is having a bit of a tough day. Her best friend is having an engagement party but, her best friend just so happens to be the guy she has been in love with the past 3 years so as you can see, she's not having the best of times. She is upset and not really in the mood to give a speech on how she is very happy for her Matt and Samantha and things get even more awkward when she confesses her love to him. With her mike still on. In front of 80 people and getting filmed. So as you can see, she is ready to run away from this. After heading to the airport and ignoring all her calls, she sees Matt and runs and books on the first flight out of there and she ends up on the Island of Reunion. She is away from everyone and wants to get over this heartbreak. She has been hiding her love from him for years and now that he knows and doesn't feel the same way she is having a hard time getting over it. One of my favourite quotes from this book is "Here's the big, fat universal truth about unrequited love...It hurts. Period." And I felt that. If you've been on this end of unrequited love you know how it feels and I really felt for Val. She tried to stay happy for Matt but, there is only so much you can hide from watching the person you love be with someone else. On this Island she meets Alex. He is going through his own heartbreak and has also decided to get away and do a bit of travelling to get over it. When Alex and Val meet they decide to make a list of things they need to, to get over the heartbreak. Their list is has a lot of crazy things on it but, they are prepared to do anything to feel better. Even if they get closer in the process on this adventure. I just adored this book. Alex is adorable. He is a nice guy, a doctor and again, just super nice and does anything he can to help people. He was a wonderful character and I love the relationship between Alex and Val. They are both going through something hard and they have a connection, they are able to grow with each other and I just love it. I can't recommend this wonderful book enough!
