Nor does he care much for spoiled royals and their arcane laws. ~I was sent a copy from the publisher - all opinions are my own~ I give it - 4/5
My review - I am very excited for the sequel of this book. I really enjoyed The Great Hunt and excited to see what happens in the next one. Some parts of this story felt a little slow but other than that I really enjoyed this retelling and the characters.
A creature is on the loose and killing everyone in sight. When the creature kills someone close to the kingdom the King declares a hunt and whoever kills this creature gets his daughters hand in marriage. Hundreds of hunters come from all over hoping to kill the creature but after a few nights of trying the numbers start to dwindle as the creature is terrifying. The princess, Aerity hates the thought of marrying one of the hunters and not knowing who they are or even being in love with them but, she does this knowing that her kingdom will be safe and she is willing to sacrifice for it. She meets Paxton, one of the hunters who just wants to kill this creature and get it over with. He doesn't care for nobody but feelings start to arise and before he can stop it, the truth comes out about him and he has to do everything he can to stay hidden and safe.
I cannot believe how this book ended and I'm excited to see what happens in the next one. I have so many feelings after reading it and I just want to hug all these characters. Things are about to change in Aerity's life, some things not for the better, but she is willing to do everything she can to protect her people from the dangers that surround them and I cannot wait to see her kick ass.
A fantastic fantasy book that will have you gripped and ready for the next one.
