Last summer, Lucy’s and Ben’s lives changed in an instant. One moment, they were shyly flirting on a lake raft, finally about to admit their feelings to each other after years of yearning. In the next, Trixie - Lucy’s best friend and Ben’s sister - was gone, her heart giving out during a routine swim. And just like that, the idyllic world they knew turned upside down, and the would-be couple drifted apart, swallowed up by their grief. Now it’s a year later in their small lake town, and as the anniversary of Trixie’s death looms, Lucy and Ben’s undeniable connection pulls them back together. They can’t change what happened the day they lost Trixie, but the summer might finally bring them closer to healing - and to each other.

My review - This story was so sad and so cute and I just loved it.
A lovely summer read that will tug at your heartstrings and make you want to just give the main characters a big hug and tell them everything will be okay.
It's been a year since Trixie died. Lucy's best friend is gone and she still can't get over her death. Ben's sister has gone and him and his family can't get over the death. Lucy and Ben had feelings for each other and just as they're about to tell each other Trixie dies and everything changes. Ben said some things and now him and Lucy haven't spoke since the funeral. But, this summer everything is about to change.
Set over a few months we follow Lucy and Ben as it comes up to the anniversary of Trixies death, trying to get over it, trying to make amends. With love interests, new friends and old can Lucy and Ben get over their fight and finally admit their feelings to each other? Or will they just carry on with their lives, trying to get over the death of someone really important to them and just put each other behind them?
I really love Lucy's new friend in this book. She was so great and always there for Lucy when she was feeling down or remembering things about Trixie. I really love the friendship in this book and the family units. How they are always trying to be there for each other.
A cute story of loss, love, trying to move on and following your heart.
