My heart is a kaleidoscope, and when we kiss it makes my world unravel ...Last summer, Gottie's life fell apart. Her beloved grandfather Grey died and Jason, the boy to whom she lost her heart wouldn't even hold her hand at the funeral. This summer, still reeling from twin heartbreaks, Gottie is lost and alone and burying herself in equations. Until, after five years absence, Thomas comes home: former boy next door. Former best friend. Former everything. And as life turns upside down again she starts to experience strange blips in time - back to last summer, back to what she should have seen then ...During one long, hazy summer, Gottie navigates grief, world-stopping kisses and rips in the space-time continuum, as she tries to reconcile her first heartbreak with her last. The Square Root of Summer is an astounding and moving debut from Harriet Reuter Hapgood.

I give it - 4/5

My review - What a fascinating read!
I was gripped from the very beginning and enjoyed every second of this book. I really loved the drawings as well throughout the book. It really added to the story.

In this story we follow Gottie. Her grandfather has died, the boy she gave her heart too broke it and her best friend from when she was little is moving in with her and her family for the summer and she also starts to have blips in time and she doesn't know what's going on with her. This book is filled with love, lost, equations, wormholes and a lot more and it is just a fantastic read.

I really loved the Science side of this book. It was really interesting to read about wormholes and how Gottie was dealing with the blips and seeing what she should have seen back then it made for a brilliant read.

Gottie is hiding secrets, secrets from her brother, Thomas, Sof and they all seem to pile up and the blips seem to get stronger and she needs to figure out how to stop them.

I feel this would be the perfect summer read. Especially if you love a good story about friendship, relationships, lost, love, family and science! Then this is defiantly the book for you. You'll feel like you're experiencing these blips with Gottie, or even just the whole summer and it was wonderful to read. Harriet is a brilliant writer, especially when it comes to this science-y romance story and I cannot wait to see what she writes next!
