Sometimes I feel like everyone else was handed a copy of the rules for life and mine got lost. Grace has Asperger's and her own way of looking at the world. She's got a horse and a best friend who understand her, and that's pretty much all she needs. But when Grace kisses Gabe and things start to change at home, the world doesn't make much sense to her any more. Suddenly everything threatens to fall apart, and it's up to Grace to fix it on her own.
~I was sent a copy from the publishers - all opinions are my own~
I give it - 5/5
My review - What a WONDERFUL story.
If you didn't know already aswell, this is an own voices novel!
This is the first YA book from Rachael and I can tell it won't be the last. I loved this book and it made me so emotional and I just couldn't put it down once I started it.
In this book we meet Grace. She has Asperger's. She loves riding her horse and lives with her mother and her younger sister as her father is always away. Grace is nearing 16 and things seem to be changing in her life. Her mothers old friend has came for a visit and isn't the nicest of people, she has to deal with some mean girls at school and, she kissed Gabe. Everything seems to be changing and falling a part-can she fix it before it's too late?
I have to say, I love the sister relationship in this book between Grace and Leah and also the friendship between Grace and her best friend Anna. They where some of my favourite parts in the story and I love a good female friendship and sisterhood.
I really enjoyed this story as I didn't know a lot about Aspergers and it really opened my eyes. There was parts where I just wanted to give Grace a big hug and make everything okay. I also loved her horse. She tries to do the best she can but sometimes it's too much.
If you're looking for a brilliant read about a girl dealing with Aspergers, growing up, friendships and relationships this is the book for you!
