I give it - 4/5
My review - What another wonderful book from Emily. I really enjoyed The One Memory Of Flora Banks and I was so excited when I got this book in the post I had to pick it up straight away. It was really gripping as it starts of with there is only so many days until she dies. So, that had me questioning what was going to happen.
Ella is a complex character. To everyone else she looks like a normal teenager with a great family but, there is a part of Ella that makes her question things, her friends, her family and so much more. The thoughts in her head make her think she's not normal and she can't tell anyone and then, one day her parents take her to Rio. She's confused as why this has happened when she finds out that her real mother is looking for her...Ella wants to meet her, she wants to know what she's like but, why are her parents hiding her from her real mother? She can't be dangerous, can she?
I really enjoyed where Emily took this story. It didn't go how I was expecting and I liked that. Ella does a lot of growing up in this book and realising things about herself and where she came from. It's hard for her to understand at times as she argues with herself and tries to figure out what's going on. Ella doesn't have the best moments at times in this book. Even though her parents are hiding something from her she is also hiding a secret from them, why she suddenly changes moods....
This is a really interesting book and I really like where Emily went with this story and I really enjoyed reading about Ella and her life.
Another brilliant book from Emily Barr that is full of drama, family relationships, mental health and so much more.
