Before she disappeared, Riley's mama used to tell him stories about the Whispers, mysterious creatures with the power to grant wishes.
Riley wishes for lots of things. He wishes his secret crush Dylan liked him back. He wishes the bumbling detective would stop asking awkward questions. But most of all he wishes his mother would come home . . .
Four months later, the police are no closer to finding out the truth - and Riley decides to take matters into his own hands.
But do the Whispers really exist?
And what is Riley willing to do to find out?

My review - I love this book. It was magical and beautiful and just really enjoyed every second of it.
In this story we follow 11 year old Riley. His mother has disappeared, his father doesn't want him around, he is getting bullied at school and also has a crush on an older boy. His mother use to tell him stories about The Whispers, grant wishing fairies and believes that this is the answer to his mother's disappearance.
He is constantly teased and all he wants to do is talk to his mama about it. He has a hard time convincing anyone about The Whispers and he knows he needs to bring a tribute to them to get the answers he wants.
We follow Riley on his quest in this beautifully told story. How he comes to terms with his feelings towards this older boy, his teasing classmates and trying to deal with a father who seems to blame him for his mama leaving.
Riley is an adorable child. I loved reading about him and his journey in this book.
This is a book that you need to just jump into. It will make you laugh, sigh and just want to give this child a hug. It's full of warmth and love but also sadness.
Greg has written such a beautiful tale that is enchanting and a book you won't be able to put down until it's ended and even then you just want more from Greg and Riley. It is a fantastic book that you need to have tissues by you.
