A perfect town is hiding secrets.
Two teenagers are dead. Two murders unsolved. And a killer who claims to be coming back.
Ellery's never been to Echo Ridge, but she's heard all about it.
It's where her aunt went missing at age sixteen, never to return.
Where a Homecoming Queen's murder five years ago made national news.
And where Ellery now has to live with a grandmother she barely knows, after her failed-actress mother lands in rehab.
Malcolm grew up in the shadow of the Homecoming Queen's death.
His older brother was the prime suspect and left Echo Ridge in disgrace.
His mother's remarriage vaulted them to Echo Ridge's upper crust, but it could all change when mysterious threats around town hint that a killer plans to strike again.
And the return of Malcolm's brother doesn't help matters. But his return is just a coincidence... isn't it?
Ellery and Malcolm both know it's hard to let go when you don't have closure.
Then another girl disappears.
As they race to unravel what happened, they realise every secret has layers in Echo Ridge. The truth might be closer to home than either of them want to believe.
And somebody would kill to keep it hidden.
~I was sent a copy from the publishers - all opinions are my own~
I give it - 5/5
My review - Such an amazing book! I was really excited to get a copy of Karen's new book as her debut novel, One of Us is Lying was one of my favourite books in 2017 and her new book, Two Can Keep a Secret is absolutely brilliant. This book was filled with suspense and it had me questioning everyone in town. I just wanted to get to the bottom of things and the last line in the book was just amazing and it just made me adore this book even more.
In this book we follow Ellery. She and her twin Ezra are moving to Echo Ridge to live with their Grandmother. Their mother is going through a tough time so they will be living with her for awhile. They have never been to their mother's home town as it holds horrible memories of her sister who disappeared. And, 5 years before another girl was murdered. They don't know if what has happened to these girls is connected but, someone is making sure that they never get found out.
Malcolm has been living in the shadow of his older brother. His brother was the boyfriend of the girl, Lacey, who was murdered 5 years ago. He was suspected but, never charged and left town soon after everything happened. His mother has remarried but, Malcolm still gets ridiculed for something his brother did or didn't do.
Homecoming is coming up and with the 3 girls announced who could possibly be homecoming queen the threats start coming in. Could it all be a coincidence and not connected? Or, is something more sinister happening in this town? Can they figure out what has been happening and by who before it's too late?
I just adored this book. Karen really knows how to get the reader to feel part of the story and also want to figure out what has happened to these girls and who is doing it all. Ellery is a fantastic character. She has an amazing relationship with Ezra and they really care for each other. Ellery is obsessed with solving crime ever since her aunts wasn't ever really solved. And now, in this town she is determined to get down to whatever is happening and find out the truth.
Malcolm is misunderstood. He has one friend and blames his brother for what his life is like. When he meets Ellery and Ezra they become friends. The 4 of them try and figure out what is happening in this town. Before they know it, another girl has gone missing and things are about to get darker.
This book was fantastic. Full of twists, suspense and just kept me gripped from the beginning. I really enjoyed the chapters from Malcolm and Ellery which gave more insight to each character and to see what was happening with them and their thoughts on what was happening. They where both fantastic main characters and I just thought this book is amazing and one that everyone should read.
